In December 2012 we attended Ann Hamilton’s work at the Park Avenue Armory, “The Event of a Thread”. This was a multi-sensory interactive exposition whose objective was to illuminate the experience of the singular and collective body, the relationship between the animal and the human.
The hall was filled with 42 different swings all interconnected with ropes (threads) to a large central curtain that was moving according to the swings. In the background, peaceful poetry was read, and brought one to a relaxing, pensive state of mind. We enjoyed swinging on the swings, laying underneath the curtain for a while watching the movements, listening to the poetry, and just simply reflecting in peace.
The great thing about NYC is that it always has something to offer, a great exposition, an impressive museum, street art and music, you can never get bored.
